Nmap is probably the most well-known red-teaming tools available. It's immensely powerful with tons of options
and fully open source. But like anything digital, it too can be spoofed. Our Nmap OS spoofer is a simple
tool that allows you to turn your Windows box into any system (at least according to Nmap's OS scanning option).
This tool uses network deceptions to return the distinct patterns that Nmap looks for while remotely fingerprinting
the system. Additionally, when this tool detects an Nmap scan, it will generate an alert.
This standalone tool is not designed to be particularly useful in most situations other than to have fun with red teams.
In situations where you want to make their job a little bit harder, our Nmap OS Spoofer can potentially
highlight their activity while giving them inaccurate results.
This capability is just one piece of the larger CyDec Platform but we wanted to share as it is an interesting
example of what deception can do to even powerful tools like Nmap.
